Our client is a major agriculture company that operates businesses in food processing, farm supply, financial services, and retail. Leveraging a robust supply chain, global market access, and the provision of exceptional products and services, they champion sustainable growth and empower both their owners and customers to thrive in the agricultural landscape.

Challenge

With operations relying on aging Windows 2012 Server systems, our client faced a critical need to migrate and upgrade their extensive data center footprint of 1000 servers to a multi-cloud environment between AWS and Azure.

Adding to the challenge, their limited internal resources were stretched thin, leaving them without the manpower or technical expertise to tackle a critical migration.

Evergreen mapped the client’s entire IT terrain during a comprehensive discovery phase. Then, we started the migration process.

Strategic Implementation, Seamless Transformation

  • Identified and interviewed key client stakeholders to establish a RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) matrix to collaborate with client resources during the project delivery
  • Implemented a wave planning strategy to perform migrations in alignment with the urgency posed by the end-of-life support for Windows 2012
  • Performed upgrades on 2012 servers to ease the transition and minimize disruptions
  • Conducted migration readiness assessments for each workload to ensure a smooth transition
  • Deployed our IaC automation scripts for AWS and Azure, streamlining server decommissioning scans and eliminating weeks of manual effort
  • Conducted validation testing to ensure the reliability and functionality of upgraded servers

Fostering Collaboration, Strengthening Bonds

But the journey wasn’t just about migration—it was about partnership. Our Lead Site Reliability Engineer and other team members provided thought leadership, promoting a collaborative, innovative work environment. We also evolved the client’s onboarding process and took full ownership of onboarding new consultants.
